DC Matanga Festival – Code of Conduct
At DC Matanga Festival, we are deeply committed to the well-being, safety, and inclusivity of our dance community. We believe that everyone—regardless of gender, race, or religion—deserves to feel respected, supported, and free to enjoy the beauty of Kizomba in a safe and welcoming environment.
If you experience or witness any unsolicited behavior or uncomfortable situation:
If you feel safe doing so, make a clear attempt to set a boundary with the individual involved. Sometimes direct and respectful communication can resolve misunderstandings.
If the issue persists or you feel unsafe, please immediately contact any DC Matanga Festival team member or reach out directly to Juste Pehoua or Kimiko Sumner. We are here to listen and act—on the spot.
All reports will be taken seriously and handled with discretion. After hearing from both parties and assessing the situation, we will determine the appropriate course of action. This may include:
Mediation between the individuals involved
A warning
Or, if necessary, escorting the individual(s)—regardless of gender—out of the event, depending on the severity of the incident
Let’s continue to build a community rooted in respect, joy, and connection—on and off the dance floor.
With love and rhythm,
The DC Matanga Festival Team
See you all on the dance floor!
